Diabetes UK, in partnership with Bupa, has created Diabetes in Healthcare, a free e-learning programme designed to help improve knowledge and understanding among healthcare professionals who are not diabetes specialists.

The course, which covers both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, includes expert information on how the condition is diagnosed, treated and monitored, and symptoms to look out for in those who may have diabetes but are yet to be diagnosed. Pharmacists are also encouraged to recommend ‘Type 2 diabetes and me’, another free online e-learning course, to their patients. The programme helps people with type 2 diabetes learn how best to manage their condition and reduce the risk of complications.
